I think that if you truly love something you will not only consume it but create it. If you like football, you won’t just watch it on TV but go out and play. If you love music, you’ll try to create some. You may not be good at doing it but that’s not the point. The point is that you should try to create it and enjoy it even if you don’t have any talent for it. It’s what brings more satisfaction – the fact that you created something on your own.
relativity

Last week I made a resolution not to worry about everyday stress but today I caught myself doing the same. So this is what I am going to say to myself everytime I realize it:
Nothing matters if you think it’s that way, everything matters if you think it’s that way.
ask for more

Would you feel insulted if your boyfriend/girlfriend, although not cheating on you, wanted to have other admirers (I mean people who are in love with him/her, not just like him/her) apart from you? If he/she was consciously or unconsciously trying to feed those admirers’ feelings in order not to lose them? Please leave a comment.
responsibility

Yesterday I got yelled at by a classmate because she stumbled over my feet when I was with my back towards her. It was obviously my fault that I don’t have eyes on my back. If people refuse to bear responsibility for something as unimportant as that how can we expect them to bear it when it comes to something significant?
Today our math teacher was pissed off because she received homework which was a photocopy of another homework. Not only that people don’t respect your efforts, but they are also lazy enough to do such a stupid thing as to turn in a photocopied homework. I don’t know what they expected but this is a hint for they attitude towards things they are responisble for. It seems they are used to that by all the times they were indirectly encouraged to do so which makes them think they could go on like this the rest of their lives.

Sometimes you need a complex of your own things and philosophies to help you cope with everyday life. It could be anything. It may sound funny but even listening to The Doors (at present) or some other kinds of music has helped me accept or understand some of the things that bother me. I am still in search for some more.

Idea of the day
March 22, 2007 at 4:15 pm (Uncategorized)
I will create a new category where each day I will post a simple thought of mine. It could be the thought I start or end the day with, it could be indication of my mood or it could be something that has just come up to my mind and it won’t be elaborate or well-written.
Here’s the one for today:
There are and things that you meet for the first time. They may confuse you, surprise you, repel you, question who you are, make you think, inspire you, discourage you, things you may never realize … you can fill this list with as many verbs as you want. Every time it’s something different. Others may not understand you, even you may not understand yourself, but don’t ever judge. There is no mold for right or wrong – only things and situations.
meaningful or meaningless

Who decides whether something is meaningful or meaningless? I guess this is one of the reasons people need to believe there is God or someone who sets the rules for themselves. However, if we try to sift out what is imporant from what is not, we’ll face a lot of contradictions.
Recently I’ve been thinkin a lot about environment and pollution and I will try to relate my thoughts to these two. For example, we all know that there is a problem with the decreasing numbers of forests all over the world, but we all have, let’s say, photos (which are made of paper and paper is made of trees). How can we say which one is more important? To save a tree or to have a memory from you childhood, some event, etc.? There are a lot of fans of Formula 1 where the cars waste a great deal of fuel which is not only being exhausted every day, but also pollutes the environment, emitting greenhouse gases. Should we eliminate Formula 1 or the fact that it entertains people is more important? You could say that there are plenty other ways to entertain yourself but this is only one example. If you think in that direction you can try to convince yourself that almost everything can be useful and useless, you can justify or blame, but how can you decide whether it’s more useful or more useless? We can live without photos, but that way life would be more boring and grey, less colourful and enjoyable. Things like that make life more colourful and enjoyable. On the other hand you can say that real happiness and leading a good life don’t depend on outer influence or circumstances so if you truly care about the planet, you can do without all the things that seem to make you happier. But do people know how to live without those things? I doubt so. I think if we take them away from people, they’d confused and puzzled about what to do. We’re too dependent on a lot of things and we’re not ready to sacrifice them and live without them.
Perhaps a nice solution would be to look for something in the middle but everything is so relative that it’s not going to be an easy job either. It would be hard to do withouth limiting somebody’s rights or freedom. If, for example, we say that we should stop producing some magazines (in order to limit the use of paper and save the forests) which don’t have educational or intellectual content, then would everybody agree? There are millions of people who would protest. And isn’t it natural? Who can say which magazine is good enough and which one should be stopped in order to save paper? In my view, it’s this magazine, but in your view it’s that magazine. This is what freedom is about – everyone has the right to issue his own magazine.
I’d repeat myself saying that this is only an example. It could not be a magazine, it could be everything. What should we do in order to have it both ways?
